April Showers Bring May Flowers :)

And by "showers" I do *not* mean snow showers as we had last week on the east coast! LOL! This week at The Paper Variety we have a photo inspiration challenge for you.

You can draw from the "April Showers Bring May Flowers" theme, bring out an element from the photo such as the umbrella or rain boots, or pull the blue/black/yellow color combination into your paper project!

Before we take a look at what the design team created, let's announce our *new* sponsor... Studio Calico!!

Studio Calico kits sell out *fast* and this one is hot off the press! If you love it, run over there and check it out!  Lorie is offering one sheet each of the patterned paper from the State Fair collection, as well as a selection of the embellishments! Wow!! What's not to love?!

The design team created some inspiring projects based on our above photo:

Shannon said, "I told Karl recently like, yesterday..that I'd love him come rain or come shine...like the song says...and well the inspiration was instant! :) It's an 8X10 canvas....I know, I know again with the canvas, but you give me free reign!"

Jan said, "I went with the raindrops and some of the colors from the photo to alter this note card box into a "rainy day fund" keeper.  I always keep a couple dollars hidden in my dresser, now I have a pretty place to keep it."

Mindy said, "This card for me is all about getting out of my comfort zone! 1. It's a card! LOL. 2. It's machine stitched (well I attempted to anyways!) 3. It's not my usual colors!  But I still had to throw some kraft on there somehow :D"

Patti said, "Each July, my city holds a huge festival to celebrate our waterways. It's called "Harborfest". Last year, the Saturday of Harborfest was a near complete rain-out. It didn't stop raining until 9:00 p.m. - just in time for the fireworks. My nieces, Elly & Sky did not let the rain dampen their spirits! They were outside singing in the rain, enjoying the rainy summer day. :) "

Tessa said, "I really love the "Hello, Sunshine" line from American Crafts and fell for the cute umbrella paper.  I hope the sunny yellow umbrellas, sequin raindrops, and twill bow will make someone who feels "under the weather" a little bit happier."

I love the rain boots trend going on right now! I used DCWV glitter stack cardstock for my yellow layers and it really shines in real life ;)

This week, we want to welcome guest designer..

I love her sweet photo and layout, especially how she used her border punches. Please make sure you stop by Kim's blog and leave her some love!

Now, it's your turn! Upload your paper projects inspired by this photo:

Before noon on Tuesday for a chance to win the "State Fair" collection from Studio Calico!! :)

Have a great week!

  3. I was quick because I had this mostly finished! The white flowers reminded me to use the hand-made crochet flowers my friend and neighbor made me!
